Events Calendar

The Division provides a comprehensive education and training program to GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Staff and Allied Health. The sessions are mostly mid week dinner meetings with a handfull of full day weekend events for the more popular topics. Individual practice visits may take place at lunch time or early in the morning, depending on the topic and what suits the particular practice.

The Division aims to provide regular accessible high quality CPD at a local level. All CPD run by the Division involving GPs offers CPD points from RACGP and the Professional Development Programs from ACRRM. This assists GP to fulfil their CPD requirements for each triennium.

In addition to educational requirements, CPD participants also benefit from peer interaction, networking, and contact with and knowledge of other local service providers.

CPD topics are derived from identified areas of required upskilling by Division members in their annual survey. Specific training in various program areas takes place all year round within the Division area, including the larger regional centre of Wagga Wagga as well as smaller rural towns. The Division is continually exploring innovative ways to involve its more remote members, thereby reducing isolation, both geographically and professionally along with removing the necessity to travel to CPD events.

As well as Divisional CPD, the Division advertises and promotes other education and training opportunities that are happening locally, across the state and nationally.

Rural Health Education Foundation Satellite Broadcasts

Originally established in 1992, the Rural Health Education Foundation provides independent, accredited education services to general practitioners and other health professionals working in rural and remote Australia.

The RHEF produces and broadcasts interactive distance education programs using satellite technology, the Internet and "enduring" materials (videos, DVDs and CD-ROMs). The RHEF operates a growing network of more than 560 receiving sites, called the Rural Health Satellite Network.

Today, the RHEF satellite network is one of the largest dedicated networks of its kind in the world, reaching more than 90 per cent of rural doctors and other health professionals.

For any Division member interested in accessing the satellite broadcasts please contact the Division CPD Coordinator. Click here to see the schedule of upcoming Rural Health Education Foundation satellite broadcasts
