Immunisation
Aiming to increase immunisation rates for the Riverina
About the program ( Factsheet)
Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against preventable infectious diseases before they come into contact with them in the community. Immunisation helps people stay healthy by preventing serious infections. It not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of disease.
The Riverina Division of General Practice & Primary Health’s Immunisation Program aims to assist General Practice to implement systems to further improve immunisation coverage rates. Coverage rates for children under seven years have increased from 75.2% in 1998 to 92.2% in 2009 - the immunisation coverage goal for the Riverina Division of General Practice & Primary Health is 95% and we will continue to work with General Practice and the community to achieve this.
